I’m Eric Hobart. For more than a decade, I’ve designed, developed and maintained complex Web presences, primarily academic. I also am the principle of Balanced Web, a Web development and design service.
I work to stay current with Web best practices, among them meeting/exceeding Federal and WAI accessibility requirements, tableless design, valid structural and semantic html/xhtml code, graceful degradation, and separation of content, presentation and interaction.
For those unfamiliar with the lingo, following these practices means your site will deliver a quality experience to the broadest possible audience, and the information in your site will be available to all visitors no matter what type of Internet connection they have, what flavor computer or monitor they use, what browser they prefer, or what kind of device they opt to look at your site with — browser, PDA, cell phone, etc.
Oh, and Google finds sites built on these principles particularly tasty, which ups the chances of your site placing high in search results.
